I strive for the emotional elements of a person’s inner self as my achievement. I long for what one might see or feel beyond what is portrayed through the visuals. I love to force the viewer to believe and also question what they see and to be able to feel what the piece portrays. Whether working in a single medium or multiple, and whether the piece is in a realistic, expressionistic, surrealistic or abstract style, I try to conger the emotional aspects of the viewer and make them "think" about what they see. My pieces are like myself. What you see is not necessarily what it is.
Strength and boldness is typically introduced in my work. I work in different styles and mediums because I am so interested in all that is around me. I love to be able to “feel” the mediums when working sculptural or to be able to add more to a dimensionally effect when working in 2D form. I will work smaller but love the boldness of working larger. Color and textures are typically seen in my art. I use many organic elements in my art. Forcing the eye to travel and go inside of each piece is an important part of my pieces. I love to touch things and in many of my works I like to invite the viewer to touch my creation and be able to communicate completely with it.
I began my work in a more realistic style through painting and drawing and eventually found myself fascinated by various mediums, styles and subject matter. I am incorporating collage into my more recent works. and have been working in what appears to be abstract but is actually photo-realism. To “trick” the eye into thinking it sees one thing when it is really another has been an intriguing aspect of my recent works.
